Blended Learning Implementation Module – Emotional Regulation with Mightier
This blended learning course introduces emotional regulation strategies for elementary classrooms using the Mightier app. Designed for teachers and instructional staff, this course combines asynchronous activities, reflection prompts, and multimedia content to provide a flexible, student-centered learning experience. Below, you’ll find my “Start Here” module, two instructional modules, and an implementation walk-through video that explains how the course structure supports blended learning best practices.

Watch the Course Walkthrough
In this short video, I’ll walk you through how this course is structured and how to use the modules, resources, and reflection tools. Whether you’re just getting started or reviewing best practices, this walkthrough will help you feel confident with the start to implementing Mightier in your classroom.
This module includes a welcome video, overview of emotional regulation in the classroom, a summary of how Mightier works, and a reflection activity. You’ll also find links to my ePortfolio for deeper exploration.
📝 Reflection:
-
What challenges do you face with emotional regulation in your classroom?
-
How do you think Mightier could support your students?
Start Here Module : Introduction to Mightier app and SEL mini-lesson

Module 1: Emotional Identification
In this module, you'll explore the foundational skill of identifying emotions—starting with your own. Through a mix of self-awareness activities, videos, and classroom tools, you’ll gain insight into how emotions impact behavior and learning. You’ll begin by naming your own feelings using tools like the Feelings Wheel, then dive into the brain-body connection to understand why students react the way they do. You’ll also create an Emotion Word Wall to help students expand their emotional vocabulary and reflect on strategies to support emotional awareness in your classroom. The goal of this module is to help you become more comfortable labeling emotions so you can model and teach emotional regulation more effectively.
Reflection Prompt:
How will you help your students name what they feel?
How will you respond differently when you notice a student is emotionally dysregulated?
What do you need to support this work consistently?

Module 2: Teaching Strategy – Implementing Mightier in the Classroom
This module focuses on how to integrate the Mightier app into your weekly classroom routine, with a recommended structure of three short gameplay sessions and a reflective strategy discussion at the end of the week. You’ll explore setup tips, usage strategies, and tools to support your students’ emotional regulation over time. Resources include a “Mightier in the Classroom” cheat sheet, the Feelings Wheel, an Emotion Check-In Chart, and Strategy Prompt Cards to guide meaningful conversations. The goal is to build consistent habits that help students understand and manage their emotions in real-time.
Reflection Prompt:
-
How would you use Mightier in your classroom?
-
How would SEL instruction help your students?
-
What questions do you still have about implementing the Mightier app in your classroom?
Course Materials & Resources

Consistent use of emotional regulation strategies, like those supported by the Mightier app, can significantly improve classroom behavior, engagement, and overall student well-being (Durlak et al., 2015). By integrating gameplay and reflection multiple times per week, students are more likely to internalize self-regulation skills and apply them in real-world scenarios (CASEL, 2020; Mightier, 2023). Tools like the Feelings Wheel and Strategy Prompts help reinforce emotional awareness while creating a safe, supportive learning environment (Pope & Roper, 2021). This module aligns with research-based SEL practices and emphasizes the importance of modeling and consistency in emotional learning (Mertler, 2019).
Thank you for taking this step toward supporting emotional wellness in your classroom. By building awareness and consistency through tools like Mightier, you’re giving your students the skills they need to grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Let’s continue to support each other and make emotional learning a daily part of our classrooms.
