
Empowering Change Through COVA & CSLE: My Journey with the Mightier App
My innovation project focused on using the Mightier app to support emotional regulation in students, especially those with autism or emotional dysregulation. I applied the COVA (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity) model and the CSLE (Creating Significant Learning Environments) framework to create a more student-centered, emotionally aware approach (Harapnuik, 2021).
Students’ struggles with emotional regulation impact learning and social development (Gross, 2015; Laurent & Rubin, 2004). Research-based tools like Mightier offer real-time feedback to help students build emotional awareness and control (Prizant et al., 2005). This project taught me that meaningful innovation often starts with small, targeted changes grounded in real needs (Fullan, 2013).

By empowering others with choice, ownership, and authentic learning opportunities, I can support meaningful change in my organization. Whether through professional learning, emotional regulation tools like Mightier, or reflective leadership strategies, I’m committed to creating environments where both students and educators thrive. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to continue building a culture of empowered, emotionally intelligent learning.
