Installing 4DX in my organization

Focus on the Wildly Important Goal (WIG)

WIG: Achieve 90% weekly student app usage for targeted emotional regulation sessions by the end of the first semester.

This singular focus allows the team to direct energy towards a clear, measurable goal, avoiding distractions from other competing objectives.

Act on the Lead Measures

Lead Measures:
Students complete at least three app sessions per week.

Teachers facilitate one reflective feedback session per student weekly.

These are controllable actions directly linked to achieving the WIG. While improved emotional regulation is the ultimate outcome (lag measure), focusing on these lead measures will drive progress.

Keep a Compelling Scoreboard

My scoreboard will be
Simple: Displays app usage frequency and the number of teacher check-ins each week.
Visible: Shared digitally and displayed in a common area, such as the teacher's lounge, to ensure accessibility.
Aligned: Tracks lead and lag measures to show the connection between daily efforts and overall outcomes.

Create a Cadence of Accountability

Weekly accountability meetings will ensure consistent focus on the WIG.
Discuss progress on lead measures.
Identify obstacles and brainstorm solutions collaboratively.
Celebrate small wins to maintain momentum.
Meetings will be brief (15-20 minutes) and include all relevant stakeholders, such as teachers and school leadership.

Scoreboard

Here is a visual representation of the compelling scoreboard for your Mightier app implementation. It includes:

App Usage (%): Displayed as blue bars, tracking weekly progress toward the 90% goal.

Teacher Check-ins: Displayed as green bars, indicating weekly teacher engagement.

Goal Line: A red dashed line marking the target app usage percentage (90%).
This clear and simple design ensures that the team can quickly assess progress and focus on actionable steps.

5 Stages of Change with Key Actions

Integrating the Influencer Model with 4DX

The Influencer Model complements 4DX by addressing motivation and ability at personal, social, and structural levels:

  • Personal Motivation and Ability: Encourage intrinsic motivation by showing teachers the immediate benefits of the app in their classrooms. Provide targeted training to boost confidence.

  • Social Motivation and Ability: Leverage teacher champions to influence peers and foster a supportive environment.

  • Structural Motivation and Ability: Use the scoreboard and recognition systems to motivate engagement and ensure resources (e.g., time, app access) are readily available.

4DX provides the structure for execution, while the Influencer Model ensures behavioral changes align with the strategic goal. Together, they create a balanced approach to achieving consistent app usage and lasting cultural change.

Requirements for Success

  1. Clarity and Communication: A shared understanding of the WIG and lead measures among all stakeholders.

  2. Resources: Training, access to the Mightier app, and tools for data collection.

  3. Engagement: Active involvement from parents and teachers to reinforce app usage and emotional regulation strategies at home and in school.

  4. Ongoing Support: Weekly accountability meetings and responsive leadership to address challenges.

  5. Celebration of Wins: Acknowledgment of progress to sustain enthusiasm and commitment.

This 4DX strategy focuses on leveraging controllable lead measures, maintaining clarity through a compelling scoreboard, and building habits that will ensure the long-term success of the Mightier app implementation.
